Guaimíes Blancos ⚪

Prep: 10 mins
🍲 Boil: 15 mins

💡 Make sure the water is at a steady boil before dropping them in so they hold their shape perfectly! 🔊

They are a true gem of Puerto Rican comfort food. While they might look similar to domplines, the secret is in the preparation: instead of being fried, they are gently boiled in salted water. This gives them a soft, delicate texture that pairs perfectly with traditional salted cod (bacalao) or any savory stew. It’s a taste of island tradition in every bite!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup of hot water
  • 1 tsp of vegetable oil
  • salt ( to taste)

Methods:

  • Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, oil, and a pinch of salt.
  • Mix: Slowly add the hot water to the flour mixture, stirring constantly until a soft dough forms.
  • Shape: Take small portions of the dough and roll them into cylinder shapes (rolls).
  • Boil: Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add salt to taste. Carefully place the guanimes into the boiling water.
  • Cook: Boil for 10 to 20 minutes. Once they are firm and cooked through, remove them from the water.
  • Serve: Drain well and enjoy them warm with your favorite side dish!
