Tamarindo juice is one of my mother’s favorite natural drinks. It’s a classic Puerto Rican staple that perfectly balances sweet and tangy flavors.
Ingredients:
1 lb fresh Tamarind pods ( brown shells)
1 ½ quarts of water
1 empty gallon
1 cup of sugar
ice
Methods:
Remove shells: Take the tamarind pods and remove the brown shells and strings.
Soak: Put the pulp in a bowl of hot water for 30–45 minutes.
Strain: Mash it through a strainer to get the juice out and throw away the seeds.
Mix: Add water and sugar to the juice, stir well, and serve cold.
