If there is one drink that instantly transports you to a tropical paradise, it’s Parcha Juice. Known for its vibrant yellow color and its unmistakable sweet yet tangy kick, passion fruit is a staple in every Puerto Rican household. Whether you’re picking the fruit straight from the vine or buying the pulp fresh from a local market, nothing beats the refreshing zing of a cold glass of Parcha on a humid afternoon. It is the perfect balance of exotic flavor and natural energy!
This is my sister’s favorite juice; she even grows the vines in her backyard! Every time I visit Puerto Rico, having a fresh glass of her home-grown Parcha is the first thing on my list.
Ingredients:
2 cups Parcha pulp (fresh or frozen)
1 quart of water
¾ cup Sugar (adjust to your preference for tartness)
Ice
Methods:
Extract: If using fresh fruit, scoop the pulp into a blender and pulse briefly (just enough to loosen the juice without breaking the black seeds).
Strain: Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher to remove the seeds.
Mix: Add the water and sugar to the pitcher, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Chill: Serve over plenty of ice and enjoy the most refreshing drink on the island!
