Guayaba is the queen of tropical fruits. Known for its intense, sweet aroma and beautiful pink hue, guava juice is a thick, nectar-like treat that feels like an indulgence in every sip. It’s packed with nutrients and is a staple in Puerto Rican pantries, whether enjoyed as a morning juice or a base for festive punches. This is another one of my favorite natural drinks! There’s something so romantic about the vibrant pink color and the sweet, floral scent of fresh guava—it’s a drink that always makes our table feel a little more special. Ingredients:
- 8-10 Ripe Guavas (pink variety is best for color)
- 1 quart of water
- ½ cup Sugar (adjust to taste)
- A squeeze of Lime (to balance the sweetness)
- Ice
Methods:
- Prep: Wash the guavas and cut off the ends. You don’t need to peel them, as the skin holds a lot of flavor and color!
- Blend: Cut the fruit into chunks and blend with half of the water. Pulse until smooth, but try not to pulverize the tiny seeds.
- Strain: This is a must for Guayaba! Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher to remove the hard seeds and any gritty pulp.
- Finish: Add the rest of the water, sugar, lime, and squeeze it. Stir until well combined.
- Serve: Chill thoroughly and serve over ice. It’s naturally thick, so feel free to add a little more water if you prefer a lighter juice.
